miss a signal of dog discomfort. These are just some of the
challenges facing parents:
- Age characteristics and behaviors that often lead to tense moments.
- Grumble & growl zones: preventing them or handling them
- What a dog should tolerate;
- What a child is able to do.
- Age related behaviors anddog/child interaction;
- Subtle first signals on baby/toddler approach;
- How and when to intervene.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS |
COLLEEN PELAR,
is the author of 3 books: Living With Kids and Dogs ...Without Losing your Mind (2nd Ed.) (Winner of the Humane Society of the U.S. ``Compassionate Care" Award); Kids & Dogs: A Professionals Guide to Helping Families, and Puppy Training for Kids. She gives presentations around the U.S. on how to live safely with kids and dogs. Colleen is active in APDT & IAABC and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC). She taught at Wash. DCs Police Acadamy, is training manager of a VA dog training facility and has 3 sons.
JENNIFER SHRYOCK,
is the founder of Family Paws Parent Education which consists of two international programs: Dogs & Storks ® and the Dog & Baby Connection ™, that have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, and national TV and radio. She holds a degree in Special Education and is U.S. VP of Doggone Safe a non-profit dedicated to dog bite prevention and victim support. Jennifer is a recognized expert on child-dog interactions and safety, having written and spoken extensively on these topics. She is a certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC), and mother of 4 children in a home with 3 dogs.

BABIES
The presence of a baby is likely to be distracting to other participants, so we ask that you refrain from bringing any babies or very young children into the lecture hall.
VIDEOTAPING
No videotaping or audiotaping is permitted. A selection of videotapes and books will be available for sale.
BOOKS & TOYS, ETC. FOR SALE
A selection of books, videos and toys will be available for sale.
SEATS
The lecture hall provides metal folding chairs. If you prefer, you may bring another chair or cushion for your comfort.
