ABOUT BRENDA ALOFF |
BRENDA ALOFF is a professional dog trainer specializing in
problem behavior. A large part of her practice consists of dogs who have
been referred to her when traditional techniques have failed, often working
with owners on re-socialization of fearful and aggressive dogs, Brenda's
childhood love was training and showing horses. She has taken this
knowledge about working with large, potentially dangerous animals and
applied it to training dogs with problem behaviors. Unsatisfied with the
results of "traditional" dog training, Brenda studied marine
mammal training, exotic animal training and learned about wolf pack
behavior. Puzzled by the lack of answers in dog lore and literature, and
because traditional dog training techniques did not offer the tools needed to
deal with aggressive dogs, in particular, she became an expert in behavior
modification and positive reinforcement.
Brenda's Newest Book: CANINE BODY LANGUAGE - A
Photographic Guide. Canine body language thoroughly documented with
photographs and text! Hundreds of images in this 390 page book illustrate
the incredible variety of postures, behaviors and situations that the typical
dog either manifests or encounters.
Brenda's first book POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT: TRAINING
DOGS IN THE REAL WORLD, was published in 2000. In 2001, this
book was a finalist for the prestigious Dog Writers Association of America
Award.
Brenda's Second book AGGRESSION IN DOGS-PRACTICAL
MANAGEMENT, PREVENTION & BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION,
has been described as "the encyclopedia reference guide for anyone wanting
to modify dog behavior".

DOG RULES |
DOG STUFF
Because of the nature of the Aggression subject matter, please be extra
careful about bringing a dog to these sessions with issues that might
possibly involve high reactivity to certain likely stimuli.
If you must bring a dog, it must lay next to you (or on your lap)
during the sessions. For safety reasons, do not allow your dog to
block isles.
No crates or x-pens are allowed in the meeting rooms unless
approved by event staff.
Dogs must be kept quiet, leashed and under control at all times.
Please bring a mat or blanket for your dog to lay on.
Any dog that is disruptive or behaves in an aggressive manner as
determined by event staff will be requested to leave the seminar
areas.
Any dog that has "personal space issues" should not be in the
seminar rooms. Remember, chairs are right next to each other and
people and dogs may be stepping over your dog. It is not a nice
experience to be snarled at when dogs/people have to walk "over"
your dog.
